January 7, 1972, the FCC amended Part 97 to allow faster RTTY speeds.
Four standard RTTY speeds were authorized, namely,
60 (45 baud), 67 (50 baud), 75 (56.25 baud) and 100 (75 baud) words per minute.

Many Amateur Radio operators had equipment that was capable of being upgraded
to 75 and 100 words per minute by changing teleprinter gears.
While there was an initial interest in 100 words per minute operation,
many Amateur Radio operators moved back to 60 words per minute.

Some of the reasons for the failure of 100 words per minute HF RTTY included
poor operation of improperly maintained mechanical teleprinters,
narrow bandwidth terminal units, continued use of 170 Hz shift at 100 words per minute
and excessive error rates due to multipath distortion and the nature of ionospheric propagation.

The FCC approved the use of ASCII by Amateur Radio stations on March 17, 1980
with speeds up to 300 baud from 3.5 to 21.25 MHz
and 1200 baud between 28 and 225 MHz.
Speeds up to 19.2 kilobaud was authorized on Amateur frequencies above 420 MHz.[18]

The requirement for Amateur Radio operators in the United States
to identify their station callsign at the beginning and the end of each digital transmission
and at ten minute intervals using International Morse Code
was finally lifted by the FCC on June 15, 1983

Le Rtty mode digital d'origine ayant maintenant
des concurents, il arrive que les bandes soient par moment
absente de signaux,
ce qui pose problème pour la moindre manip.

Une solution simple avec un signal >S9
la météo marine allemande
24/24   -   365/365
le jour  DDK9 sur 10.100 MHz,
la nuit   DDK2 sur   4.583 Mhz,

Shift 450 Hz    -    Vitesse 50 baud

La polarité est inversée par rapport aux stations amateurs
donc il faut
soit : inverser la bande laterale sur le transceiver
soit : inerser Normal /Reverse  sur le décodeur.
( faire les 2 reviendrait à ne rien faire )

Le shift de 450 Hz impose d'augmenter
la bande passant du Rx à 800 Hz minimum

Les messages transmis sont compréhensibles
mais plus riche en utilisant le  TTYterm
et sa 2eme fenètre, le décodeur météo intégré.

Ce programme décode le Baudot aux basses vitesses
sur le ports Com des cartes mères,
quand il en reste un,
ce que Hyperterminal de Windows ne sait plus faire,
manifestement uniquement pour des raisons logicielles...

La fenêtre de droite
liste une recherche de solutions
au problèmes :
- du décodage du Baudot
- des basse vitesses

Les cartes PCI simple ou multi port com
ou les convertisseurs USB port com
n'étant pas capable de le faire,
faudra t'il que je  fasse,
comme je le faisais dans les années 70,
le design d'un convertisseur
45 Baudot / 110 ASCII ?

(  110 Bd ascii serai compatible avec  Write-Log  )

Recyclage.

Jusqu'à Win 98SE il était possible
d'utiliser les PK232 et 900 entre autre
comme convertisseur Baudot ascii
en entrant le signal de sortie d'un décodeur
externe sur l'entrée appropriée d'un PKxxx
après avoir placer les cavaliers sur
" Modem externe "

Malheureusement
Windows Xp & Vista
se sont pas compatible
avec les rares logiciels
qui etaient capables de les commander,
et les mises à niveau n'ont jamais été faites.

Le alléas de l'histoire
ont parfois d'étranges résonnances,
c'est XP de windows
qui a rendu obsolète

Sources RTTY pour Tests

                Faire des tests en RTTY est très difficile,
                car les transmissions sont très courtes en DX comme en contest,
                sans compter que très souvent en semaine aux heures de bureau,
                trouver une station locale est un vrai challenge.

                Disposer de sources alternatives est donc une nécessité.
